SEN Teaching Assistant - Rotherham

Alex Elliot Consultancy (AEC) is actively seeking special educational needs assistants in Rotherham.

We particularly want to hear from individuals who have a focus in or experience in supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD and challenging behavioural traits on either a small group or close 1:1 support basis.

As a result of the current climate in relation to COVID-19, a significant number of children with special education needs will be finding the transition back to school from a home-based learning environment tough. The change in structure and routine in some cases will have caused significant disruption causing learners to become unsettled as they make the transition back into school life.

AEC is looking for SEN support assistants to assist children with additional needs both in the classroom and on a personal 1:1 basis.

The right individual to support children with additional needs would have past experience supporting children with SEN adopting a kind and patient approach to learning support. You would understand that the way the particular student/students within your care access learning  may differ embracing change and diversity.

We have opportunities available to suit all, whether you are available part or full time, you want permanent work or prefer the flexibility of block bookings giving you the opportunity to visit various local schools – we can help!

In order to work with us at AEC, you will need to go through the registration process with one of our dedicated consultants. It is during this section of becoming part of the AEC family where we will obtain references for yourself from your 2 most recent employers so please be prepared to be asked for theses.

Ensuring that all children concerned are safe is paramount and therefore you will be required to complete an enhanced child workforce DBS check and place it on the update service if this is not something you already have.

1:1 Support Assistant - Rotherham

Have you experience supporting individuals of a primary school age who display challenging behavioral traits and understand how this kind of role can sometimes differ from a standard support responsibility within school.

We are keen to hear from candidates who specialize in supporting students who require constant 1:1 support. The main duties of your role will be to assist learners access education through a way that suits them appreciating that all students learn in different ways.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that you have the ability to build strong lasting relationships with pupils quickly using your own initiative to make appropriate changes where necessary.

A normal day of a behavior support assistant may consist of:

  • Supporting a small group or individual learning throughout the day – this may include in the classroom as well as outside on more of a 1:1 tailored approach to learning platform

  • Supporting children during lunch and break times

  • Creating tailored interventions for learners that meets their own needs and requirements

  • Assisting the learner (where applicable) to meetings with external agencies and visits to other education based settings

  • Liaising with guardians in relation to their child

 

As a 1:1 assistant it is important that you have the students within your cares best interest at heart in some cases the children requiring this form of support may be disengaged learners. You will be responsible in ensuring that student(s) access the education they need.
